*Removing Old Bathtub Caulking*

 

Clean the tub and tile area to eliminate soap scum and let dry.

Then use a razor or a utility knife to remove the caulk.

Be careful not to scratch the tub or tile surface.

If this seems too daunting, there are commercial products that soften caulk over several hours so that it can then be cleared away (follow instructions on label).

Clean the stripped areas with a tub and tile cleanser so the new caulk will adhere and let dry completely before you recaulk.

This is a difficult job; unless you're handy, you may want to call a professional.
