*Question & Answer Garage Door*

Dear Bob

I had a garage door spring break last night. When it snapped it put a nice size hole in the wall. Fortunately no one was hurt. Is there a way to prevent this from happening again?

Dear MP

Garage door springs do wear out and should be replaced every few years depending on amount of usage. Most home centers carry them and they are relatively inexpensive. You can prevent a spring from flying by installing a braised cable through the center of the spring and attach it to the front and rear brackets that hold the garage door track.
